Reining king of the laundry mat stinkin' drunk in a laundry mat
He'd seen a little too much, a little too much of life
I wasn't sure what he was mumblin' about
Till I heard some some wisdom slip out
He looked me in the eye and wouldn't look away

Then he asked my what was beautiful
And I thought of many answers but out of curiosity
I asked him, "Captain Jack what's beautiful?"
And this is what he said, what he said to me
He said thinking about what's beautiful
Is the very most beautiful thing you can do
And you know it's true Captain Jack

Getting drunk in a laundry mat
He'd lost his faith, he lost his faith in America
Wore a politicians clothes but it never did save his soul
He said, sometimes democracy it's just hiypocryosy

Then he asked me what was powerful
And I thought of many answers but out of curiosity
I asked him, what's powerful?
And this is what he said, what he said to me
He said thinking about what's powerful
Is the very most powerful thing you can do..
And I said I know it's true Captain Jack

Then he told me how he'd just buried a friend
They'd seen it together through thick and thin
How could he have left him to drink alone
In the laundry mat, in the laundry mat
They called home

Well he saw I was gettin' ready to go
Cause I picked up my bundle a clothes

And then he asked me what it means to do laundry
And I thought of many answers but out of curiosity
I asked him, "What's it mean to do laundry?"
And this is what he said, what he said to me
He said, "Doing your laundry
Well, it can wash your soul clean
.. if you know what I mean
And I said I know it's true
And I thanked him for his views
Told him I'd be back in a week or two
And then I said good-bye, I said good-bye, to Captain Jack
